CALL FOR PAPERS
 ISNS BONN 2026  |  25–26 September

*SUBMISSION DEADLINE 31 MARCH 2026*

The ISNS Executive Committee invites papers for discussion at its upcoming workshop to be held at Universität Bonn.

Workshop attendance and participation will both be limited by invitation, but anyone, irrespective of academic rank, is eligible to submit a paper, and papers are welcomed on any aspect of Nietzsche’s philosophical thought.

The format of the workshop favors discussion: papers are made available to all participants two to three weeks in advance of the meeting, and each two-hour session begins with a brief summation, with the remaining time devoted to intensive discussion among authors and participants.

All submissions should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • SEND TO: Send papers as either Word (.doc or .docx) or Adobe (.pdf) attachments to [email protected].
  • BLIND REVIEW: Papers should contain nothing that identifies either their author(s) or author's institution(s), including metadata and any internal references in the end notes or bibliography that would betray the identity of the author. Submissions not suitably anonymized will be returned or rejected.
  • GENERATIVE AI: The use of LLM or generative "artificial intelligence" applications (e.g., OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, and the like) should not be used at any stage of authorship. Submissions that employ these applications will be rejected.
  • PUBLICATION: Selected papers will presumptively be published in a special issue of the journal Inquiry, so submissions (i) should be in English, and (ii) should NOT be under consideration or review for publication elsewhere.
  • LENGTH: Papers should not exceed 10,000 words (including all notes and bibliography) and should be formatted in a standard font, double-spaced, with one-inch margins. Consult The Chicago Manual of Style on other matters of style and citation. Standard abbreviations for translations of Nietzsche's works can be found here: https://philosophy.gsu.edu/jns/abbreviations/.
  • FORMAT: Authors should send TWO files:
  1. Use file name '{AUTHORLASTNAME} cover' for a one-page document that contains only (i) the title of the paper, (ii) author's name, (iii) institutional affiliation and (iv) e-mail address, and (v) a 150-word abstract.
  2. Use file name '{AUTHORLASTNAME} CFP' for the main submission; please include a title and 150-word abstract on the first page of the paper.

Deadline:  31 March 2026

Notification: The Committee will make every effort to notify authors of accepted papers by or before 1 May 2026.
